jlWhen considering which project is a candidate for your first Lean project, carefully consider who will be leading this transformation day-to-day. Whether your enterprise is an owner, builder, or architect keep in mind that the most successful enterprise transformations start with a strong Lean project performance.

Some project leaders look at Lean practices such as Last Planner as just another management requirement, and have the team go through the motions without exploring the behaviors that uncover the opportunities to learn how to improve performance. Even when team members are excited about the Lean approach, a non-committed leader can serve to diffuse the enthusiasm of the team.

On the other hand, there have been many project leaders that have grasped the Lean approach and led their team through a successful Lean project. Look to cultivate this type of leadership on your first Lean project and their example will prepare the way for more successful Lean projects.
