One of the differences between my daughter’s current 6th and past 5th grade experiences is that now in addition to periodic tests her teachers are also giving frequent quizzes. I asked how she liked this, and was surprised to hear that she liked it a lot. Her reason was that it forced her to learn a little bit every day, rather than wait and learn it all just ahead of major tests.
She is also a dancer, and has learned that frequent, continuous improvement is the key to being a better dancer and part of a better dance team.
If small-batch thinking and continuous improvement are natural to children, how do so many people lose appreciation for those qualities when they become adults?
