You could hear the frustration in our client’s voice. he had hoped to be rid of problems. And while his project was performing much better than it would have otherwise, new issues were now coming to the fore.

That is part of the Lean process. Once we address the problems we see, we find that we have what appear to be new problems. Relax. Those problems were always there, just masked by the former problems.

If new and bigger problems seem as scant reward for your Lean transformation, look back to when that transformation started and then decide whether these problems are not simply even bigger opportunities to improvement and make for a better life.
