Did you notice the difference between the original Star Trek series five-year mission speech and the version of that speech at the end of the last Star Trek motion picture? In the original television series the mission is voices by William Shatner as Captain Kirk. In the latest motion picture different parts of the same mission summary are spoken by the various lead characters.
Maybe this is just a function of a different artistic license, but hopefully it also reflects a cultural change biased more toward shared leadership among colleagues versus heroic individuals as commanders.
There’s a big difference.
